Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, the word was "texting". Changing the first "t" to "s" made the neologism "sexting", a word usually meaning the sending of text messages consisting of sexually explicit text and/or images. In this case, however, Garfield and Odie are apparently using cell phones set to vibrate when a message is received to stimulate them much as a vibrator would, the actual content of the message being irrelevant.

It's amazing what changing one little letter will do to the tone of the entire rest of the strip.
