Explanation[edit | edit source]

The Author's Note explains this strip quite well: Jon appears to have confused a woman in a green dress for a Christmas tree, and attempted to cut her as if she was one, presumably resulting in her death.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon is standing in shock with a bloody chainsaw}
Jon: I thought this would be fun.
Jon: Outdoors... cutting down our own Christmas tree....
Garfield: That was a mother of five.
{Jon turns around}
Jon: We should leave now.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

This was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this particular Garfield strip. A woman in a green dress is as close to a Christmas tree as a telephone pole is anyway.

Original strip: 2012-12-01.

Admin note: This was received just a couple of hours after yesterday's strip. Clearly, where one contributor dare not tread, another dares all too easily.

Note[edit | edit source]

As a further note, "Dumbfield and Darkfield" is not the original intended name of this strip; David Morgan-Mar renamed this SRoMG strip, to go with the previous day's "Dumbfield instead of Darkfield".
