Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author didn't make this strip - it was a result from the "Garkov" strip generator, which uses a Markov chain (which can generate somewhat coherent text) and uses it on Garfield transcripts, and then fits the text into the speech bubbles of an actual strip. This particular result manages to actually make sense - Jon's inability to cook food properly (the transcript casts doubt as to precisely what he was cooking, though in the original it was a pancake) fits with Garfield's question as to whether it is, in fact, edible.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

This was an amusing result I got from Josh Millard's "Garkov" generator.

Original strip: 1986-01-18.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: Garfield! Dinner.
{Jon flips something in a frying pan; it lands on his face}
Garfield: Really?
