Explanation[edit | edit source]

This iteration of "Backfield" makes the snail incredibly slow - both in initial reaction time and its speech, as it only begins to talk in the final panel.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

The natural continuation of Inverted Backfield (SRoMG #1673), where the snail is not only slow to react, but also slow to think.

Original strip: 2005-03-14.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{beat panel as Garfield smiles smugly}
