Explanation[edit | edit source]

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music from the late 1990s. It is frequently associated with the sound "wub", as seen in the third panel; though this effect is only heard in certain strands of the genre.

The other change the author made, not particularly relevant to the title, was to remove Garfield's thought from the second panel, since Garfield's beckoning finger is really enough to tell us what he wants to tell Jon to do.

The description mentions a dead mouse, referencing the famous dubstep producer Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known by his stage name "deadmau5". (It originated from an incident where his computer malfunctioned as a result of a mouse somehow getting in and dying; the shortened title came because "dead mouse" wouldn't fit in his preferred chatroom's eight-character limit.)

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Something something dead mouse something.

Original strip: 1988-04-02.
