Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Garfield was being bored to death by Jon recounting his day, imagining him as various animals. In this version, Jon is replaced with Alex Lifeson, the guitarist for Canadian rock band Rush (hence the title, which is also similar to that of the 2112th strip of Questionable Content, which is referenced in the author's comments). He continues to say "blah" throughout, referencing the speech he gave when the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 - it was three minutes of "blah blah blah". Garfield is inexplicably enraptured by this.

The title panel is an homage to the artwork for their fourth studio album 2112 - which is surprisingly close to the comic's number, a fact acknowledged by David Morgan-Mar.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Garfield seems questionably content here.

Original strip: 2000-10-08.
