Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original Garfield strip, 1978 Garfield has heard that a lot has happened since 1978, like disco dying. Garfield doesn't believe the old Garfield until he sees Jon dancing.

Here, '78 Garfield heard that disco died in 1978, but Jon walks in, dancing, holding a LaserDisc. LaserDisc has been introduced in 1978 and was basically the predecessor to DVD. In Southeast Asia, LaserDisc was largely a failure, despite superior audiovisual quality to its competitors.

When the author heard its original/alternate name called DiscoVision, this popped into his head. He used a LaserDisc CD to make Jon dance to it.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]
