Explanation[edit | edit source]

The original strip had the first panel bereft of characters, leaving only the scenery. Of course, Garfield enters the scene in the second panel, but this edit isolates it to create a faux sense of zen (peaceful, quiet, you know the deal).

The description discusses the belief that all existence is a lie in the form of a haiku: a short Japanese poem with 17 syllables total (5 in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the third).

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

All Existence is

Illusion. What of Garfield?

My answer is here.

Original strip from 2004-05-22.
