Explanation[edit | edit source]

Whereas the cat in Jon's original reminisce was a ratter -- the bigger, the better, which Garfield considers psychotic -- this comic is full of Pokémon references.

To begin with, the title is a pun on a line from "Lucky Lucky" ("Hei! Gaaru! Rimenba mii?"), a song rife with puns on the Japanese names of Generation I Pokémon.

The reference to Psychic-type moves, clinched by Garfield's mention of the type, means that Jon's cat was probably a Mew; in certain generations, it can learn that moveset, though some moves require Machines for a Mew to learn them.

"Jonto" is a mix of "Johto" and "Kanto", the regions from Generations II/IV and I-IV, respectively. They are combined this way so that "Jon" is in the name. This makes it visually more "Johto", but phonetically more "Kanto".

Finally, "Orre-ginal" is a pun on "Orre", the region from Pokémon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Clearly, he hails from the Jonto region.
