Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, the mouse's hat was... not incredibly different from the way it is now, but still significantly so. It was enough to make Garfield think that perhaps they were attracting a better breed of mouse. Here, the hat resembles the iconic hat worn by Indiana Jones in his series, and he thinks it means their leftover food is so old as to no longer be serviceable as food, i.e., It Belongs in a Museum, "What a Piece of Junk" meaning. The title is a pun on Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, where the line is first used.

Squeaking of puns, "mouse-eum".

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Yes, I squandered the opportunity to have him call it a mouse-eum.
