Explanation[edit | edit source]

In both the original and this edit, the store clerk is somewhat paranoid. In the original, he assumes Jon is holding him up and calls the police despite Jon's assurance that he's just there to make a purchase. In the edit, the clerk has apparently been dealing in illegal organ trade, and is willing to hire someone to kill anyone who might report him. While the clerk is amazingly loose-lipped in his unprovoked denials, Jon is amazingly oblivious, and doesn't seem to pick up on his suspicious behavior.

Since most of the authors have a reason for selecting whichever strips they choose to edit, I decided to take the one made on my birthday, 1987-07-01, and change the dialogue into something a little more...incriminating. Now the clerk's got something to hide, and Jon is totally oblivious.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: {in joke glasses, nose, and moustache} Could I have a word with you?
Shop Assistant: I didn't do it! You can't prove I did!
Jon: When I came in here yesterday you sold me some—
Shop Assistant: What body parts?!
Jon: Relax! I was talking about these glasses.
Shop Assistant: You mean I don't need to call my hit man?
