Explanation[edit | edit source]

This is the second in a series of three strips in which Garfield, originally his normal orange with black stripes, had the coloration of the chair, and vice versa. In the original, Garfield sneezes due to the floral print, as if it produced pollen; here, the chair sneezes for the same reason.

This time, the author's note talks about the difficulty in editing Garfield comics when the colors aren't just a uniform shade.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

The transposition I mentioned in part 1, as probably anybody who's messed with this aspect of a Garfield comic can tell you, was very tedious. This is because each coloured area is not just one solid colour, oh no, it's a few different shades of the same colour. So changing them around is an interesting experience: flowers aside, you can't just hit the Pick tool, grab the colour, switch to Fill, hit it once for each outlined area, and have done; you have to cover several one-pixel areas, as well.

Original strip: 1981-06-30.

Transcript[edit | edit source]
