Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author thought it would be "pretty funny" to put this Garfield comic 2016-07-28 into Engrish.

Engrish is a slang term for the misuse of corruption of the English language by Native Speakers of Asian languages.

The author tells you what the ripest source of Engrish is. It's video games, of course. So he redid a recent comic using the Garfield sprites from #21: NESfield and the dialogue from the original strip by generating it using Google Translate to translate this comic from English to Japanese to English to Japanese to English. The author likes how it turned out.

So, in the original strip, Jon is about to throw himself a surprise party, and he hopes he doesn't suspect anything. Garfield says, "No chance of that."

But, in this strip, Jon is now talking about a surprise party for Garfield, and he hopes that Garfield does not expect anything. Garfield gets a dramatic line that was worthy of Obi-Wan Kenobi that says, "We do not have that chance."
