Explanation[edit | edit source]

The TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 ran for ten seasons on cable TV, and currently has an eleventh season on Netflix. The main focus was on making fun of bad movies, but during seasons 1-5 (and 11+), the show would begin with an "invention exchange", showing off two goofy devices. The fourth season's 24th episode (which featured one Manos: The Hands of Fate, one of the worst movies ever made) had an invention called the "Car-tuner", which purportedly mashed up two different, unfunny comic strips and created an amalgam of them that was actually funny. The strips themselves were never shown, just given a verbal description. The final mash-up was described by two lines of dialogue:

"Ziggy had Garfield neutered? Now that's funny!"

This SRoMG strip attempts to replicate what the invention could have made from combining the Garfield and Ziggy comic strips. It features Ziggy's one-panel style.

I got inspired by a thread in the forums. This is better then seeing Dagwood eat a tufted titmouse, for sure.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Ziggy is listening to a veterinarian in his office. Garfield is in a full-body cast with a stunned expression on his face.}

Vet: There wasn't a problem with the neutering. I just put him in a cast because I hate his smarmy attitude.
