Explanation[edit | edit source]

In this edit, the author changes the last panel's dialogue to resemble a dialogue tree, such as might be seen in a role-playing video game (hence the reference to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic in the title and author comments), or in one of the Terminator films (hence the link to the film franchise's page on TV Tropes).

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I got this idea while reading No. 190: Garfield of the Old Republic.

My guess is that >99% of the readers have used or seen (Terminator!) a dialogue tree before, but just in case: [1]

Original: 1986-03-17.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: Garfield, you prowl all night and you sleep all day. You also eat too much.
Jon: What do you have to say for yourself?
Garfield: [Force persuade] You will make me more lasagne, human.
Garfield: [Persuade/lie] I live an active life "from a certain point of view".
Garfield: [Lie] I will change my ways.
Garfield: I am sorry, you are right.
Garfield: I'd like to illustrate my point by ripping your lungs out.
