Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original strip, the woman over the phone is telling Jon that he is immature. Jon can't believe it, and starts calling her "Miss Poopie Head" before sucking his thumb. Garfield, to no one in particular, says the defense requests a recess from a judge, often referred to with the style "your honor", as if the woman's accusation of immaturity were a criminal or civil charge, and the defendant was not helping his case, instead proving himself guilty or liable, and the counsel for the defense needs time to rein him in.

In this strip, instead of hurling an insult, Jon says, "I'm going to kill you!", as portended by the title. Whether or not Jon actually intends to carry out this threat, the use of this phrase is possibly a sign of immaturity.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: {calling someone on the phone} I'm immature?!!
Jon: I'm going to kill you!
{Jon hangs up the phone and sucks his thumb like an average sensitive guy on the Internet}
Garfield: Your honor, the defense requests a recess.

Considering how he communicates with his pets, I'm surprised that Jon hasn't told this to any woman that has dumped him.
