Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Garfield was "The Caped Avenger who searches out evil wherever it may lurk", and who lay back down because he fights late-morning evil. Here, he's "The Caped Avenger who fights the heat death of the universe", and whose reason for lying down again is to reduce the growth of entropy.

The heat death of the universe is a thing which might happen to the universe, depending on various factors. Its relevance here is that, according to the hypothesis, work is converted into heat, so Garfield uses this excuse to do no work.
