Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original Garfield strip, Garfield thinks the world is his playground, sighs, and he also thinks that the big kids are hogging the swings. The author sees the comments, then thinks they were weird in the strip. Here, Garfield has been replaced by a kid.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Garfield's comments in the original strip were weird to me. Why is a cat talking about big kids at playgrounds? Why would he even care? Is there an actual playground right out of view? I thought that if I replaced Garfield with a kid, it might make more sense.

Original strip: 2018-01-09, 1984-12-16.
