Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original Garfield strip, Jon told Garfield that he's a vicious attack cat, and he demands Garfield to attack the funnily dressed dummy on the table. Garfield bares his teeth, and leaps toward the dummy, telling the dummy that his mother wears combat boots. The author doesn't understand what that's even supposed to mean. It can be that she's unwomanly, a sort of slang or something. Jim Davis lived in his own world while creating that original comic.

The author has replaced it with an insult from Seinfield: The Comeback.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Originally Garfield says/thinks: "your mother wears combat boots". I don't understand what that's even supposed to mean? Is it saying she is unwomanly? Some sort of slang for something? It's hard to tell... some days it seems like Jim Davis lives in his own world.

Anyway, I replaced that with an insult that actually makes sense, and is better.

Original strip: 1980-07-23.

Original Seinfield episode: "The Comeback".
