Explanation[edit | edit source]

This comic substitutes for the middle panel, in which the anchor is merely receiving word that his news was untrue, the final panel of a particular Minus strip in which a meteor actually did threaten to strike, but Minus stood ready to hit it like a baseball. In this context, the reporter's gaffe was speaking of the destruction of all life as something that already happened rather than a likely outcome if one didn't know Minus was going to intervene.

TV: Today in the news, a giant meteor struck Earth, destroying all life.
{Minus stands on a hilltop with a baseball bat, lining up the meteor}
TV: Oops, I guess that didn't happen.
Garfield: You gotta check those sources, bucko.
