Explanation[edit | edit source]

The image on the television in the original strip was that of a clown. This edit replaces it with a frame from one of the many animations featured on classic Sesame Street. In it, a television has been eaten, for certain values of "eaten" that apparently don't involve chewing it to bits and swallowing those bits. Three monsters are questioned: "Are you the monster that ate the television?" Two of them are not shaped like televisions, and thus are right to ask, as the title of this strip does: "Do I look like I ate a television?" The third monster, as seen in this edit, is television-shaped, and when he opens his mouth, there it is, displaying a wind-up toy bear playing cymbals. Thus, there's a television in the mouth of a monster on the television in the mouth of Odie.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Place: The Arbuckle residence. Time: Night. The moon is not only not full, but a crescent approaching new}
Odie, or the house, but probably Odie: AROOOO!
Odie, confirming earlier suspicions: AROOOO
Odie: AROOOOOOOOOO
{Garfield is attempting to sleep. Odie is not making this endeavor easy}
Garfield: Odie needs something to occupy his time.
{Garfield is carrying a small television, as the large one would make the following action nigh-impossible, and more importantly, take too much effort}
Garfield: This television should shut him up.
Odie: AROO
{Neither Odie nor Garfield are visible}
Odie: AROOO*
{Satisfied, Garfield walks back to bed.}
{Odie has a plugged-in television in his mouth, much as the monster on the television has a probably battery-operated television in his mouth}
