Explanation[edit | edit source]

Here, Garfield obeys the sign saying "DON'T WALK ON THE GRASS" by walking in the grass, rather than on top of the grass, similar to how wall-clipping works in 2D platformers.

The transcript notes that no dirt is visible beneath the grass. This is similar to how grass is depicted in games like Super Mario Bros. 3.

The title plays on the title of the song "Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Bob Dylan, or possibly "Subterranean Homesick Alien" by Radiohead. Here, Garfield is indeed subterranean.

Sign: DON'T WALK ON THE GRASS
{Garfield is walking in the grass. Garfield has physically embedded himself into the grass, which appears to be a giant mass of green with no dirt beneath it as though this were some sort of stylized video game}
