Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

When presented with a wish-granting genie, an ordinary cat might wish for what he wants. A greedy cat might try to wish for more wishes. But it is a very dangerous cat indeed that gets it into his mind to wish for more genies. (Even though, technically, that's exactly what happened in the story that popularised the wish-granting genie in western literature, the tale of Aladdin from the Arabian Nights - the book version of Aladdin actually has two genies, one of which he uses to summon the other, IIRC. At least he did in the version that I read, but given that it was a book for children and a version of a public-domain story, it may have been re-written to be more entertaining.)

Original strip: 2015-01-06.
