Explanation[edit | edit source]

Ctrl-Alt-Del is a controversial webcomic created by Tim Buckley, which centered on two friends playing and talking about video games. It was controversial (at least, at first) for its cliché concept and humor.

In the first strip of the original run (parodied here), Ethan (the brunette) tries to convince his roommate Lucas their comic is original because it has a third character. He then pulls out a watermelon with a face drawn on it. Lucas glares at him, less than impressed.

In this strip, Garfield takes the place of Lucas, and Jon appears in place of the watermelon.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

This is the first Ctrl+Alt+Del strip, by Tim Buckley. I changed two of the characters to Garfield and Jon.

Ed.: Original Ctrl+Alt+Del strip is copyright by Tim Buckley and is used here only as a vehicle for parody.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Garfield: So, it's a strip about two guys who sit around and play video games? Seems a tad cliche, doesn't it?
Ethan: Nah, it's tried and true. Besides, we have a hook.
Garfield: Oh really? What?
Ethan: We've got a third character.
{Jon appears from behind the couch}
{Garfield just stares at Ethan}
Ethan: What?
