Explanation[edit | edit source]

This one is fairly self-explanatory in and of itself - it's just the heads of Garfield characters pasted over the heads of the Team Fortress characters. Rather, it's the jokes implicit in the correspondence between the two that needs explaining. From left to right:

  • Odie -> Pyro: Both are known for being silent, crazy types.
  • Doc Boy -> Engineer: Both are country boys.
  • Pookie -> Sniper: Both are known for standing still. (This could be taken as a minor dig at Snipers in TF2, as Pookie is a helpless inanimate object, and, in some people's opinion, so are many Sniper players.)
  • Lyman -> Spy: Both are known for disappearing. (Perhaps Lyman is a Cloak and Dagger Spy who went AFK?)
  • Garfield -> Heavy: Both are known for being large.
  • Binky The Clown -> Demoman: Both are known for explosive entrances.
  • Liz -> Medic: Both are healers without medical degrees (if for completely different reasons).
  • Nermal -> Scout: Both are "annoying", both are the youngest characters in their respective casts (ignoring fish and spiders, who rarely survive through an entire Garfield strip).
  • Jon -> Soldier: Both are utterly insane in a quiet, understated way. (Sure, the Soldier is loud, but most of his madness only shows through when he tries to provide logic for what he's doing.)

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{The "Meet the Team" shot from Team Fortress 2, with the following modifications pasted on:
Odie's head replaces the Pyro's
Doc Boy's head replaces the Engineer's
Pookie's head replaces the Sniper's
Lyman's head replaces the Spy's
Garfield's head replaces the Heavy's
Binky the Clown's head replaces the Demoman's
Liz's head replaces the Medic's
Nermal's head replaces the Scout's
Jon's head replaces the Soldier's
The "Fortress 2" in "Team Fortress 2" has been replaced with "Garfield", thus the text reads "Team Garfield"}

I figured why not take the two most remixed properties I know of and mix them together?

Original strip: None, but the image is taken from Trailer 1 for Team Fortress 2, because later group shots put the scout's head in front of the Sniper's body, making substituting the heads that much more tricky.
