Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original strip, Garfield's last line was "...we live in a generation without absolutes." In this edit, the line is substituted with "...only a Sith deals in absolutes", which is a quote from Revenge of the Sith. In the film, Obi-Wan says this to Anakin right before their climactic showdown, in response to the latter's statement that one is either with him or against him. (Ironically, "only a Sith" is something of an absolute statement itself.) The title is another Obi-Wan quote from the same scene.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Original strip: 1984-05-09.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Garfield: I am absolutely not getting out of bed today.

Jon: Hey, Garfield, there's a spider on your blanket.

Garfield: I keep forgetting only a Sith deals in absolutes.
