Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip takes an original Garfield strip where Odie chases a loud dingle ball, swaps out the Ds in the "dingle" sound effect with Ts to form Tingle's name, swaps out the dingle ball itself for Tingle from The Legend of Zelda series (Majora's Mask being his debut game, although he didn't become infamous in the west until The Wind Waker), and rewords Garfield's dialogue in the final panel to reflect the situation.
The strip's title is taken from Tingle's motto; "kooloo-limpah" follows two instances of "Tingle" in said motto, which is itself typically stated when Tingle does something with a map.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
I think Majora's Mask is my favourite Legend of Zelda game, although I think that's unconnected to it being the first Legend of Zelda game Tingle appears in.
The Tingle image is from Zeldapedia.
Original strip: 1991-01-06.
