In this alternate universe, every time Jon buys a cat, it is eaten by his pet fern, Garfield.

Jon: Garfield, I know my cat's in you. I can see his tail.
Jon: What do you have to say for yourself?
Garfield: {a fern} If you must know, I am a rare herbivorous cat, and if you don't mind, I'd like to finish eating your fern in peace.
