Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Garfield said it was the Parthenon. He had also made it out of chocolate, a decision that compelled him to eat his multi-day endeavor.

Here, he called it the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, the second of which was destroyed by arson committed by Herostratus. For this crime, he was executed, and, as he was accused of doing it for fame, his name was forbidden to be spoken or written, explaining the author's note. The latter portion of the sentence proved ineffective, as not only was his name found in later records of the crime, but it also became an eponym for people who commit crimes for fame.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I'm risking execution to bring you this. I hope you're grateful.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Garfield is standing next to a perfect scale model replica of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus}
Garfield: I have built a perfect scale model replica of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.
Garfield: It took days...
{The model is on fire}
Garfield: ... Probably shouldn't have made a replica of Herostratus.
