Explanation[edit | edit source]
The original strip had Odie making a brief appearance in the second panel, and then Garfield giving his jokes punchline as "You get a stupid cat."
In this version, Garfield instead references the Nickelodeon animated series CatDog, which, as indicated by Garfield's question, starred a cat and a dog sharing the same body.
