Explanation[edit | edit source]
In the original, Garfield was the one that remarked "Spring is disturbing." Here, the flower says it (perhaps whispering it to him?)
The admin note is a reference to the previous day's strip, which followed a remarkably similar thought pattern.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
It's amazing sometimes how little you need to do to completely change a joke's punchline.
Original strip: 2013-03-20
Admin note: ... just before this slightly different version.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
{Garfield and Jon in a field of flowers}
Jon: Look at the pretty spring flowers, Garfield.
Jon: They whisper happy thoughts to us.
Flower: {to Garfield} Spring is disturbing.
