Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip's premise is pretty well-explained within both the strip itself and its author's notes; essentially, the words Jon wants to use to tell off Garfield for the damage in the living room are those that would fall outside Square Root of Minus Garfield's family-friendly scope.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

This is a parody of the TV Trope Think of the Censors.

Original strip: 1991-01-09.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: Garfield, I'd like to have a few choice words with you about this mess.
Jon: Now I would say these words to you, but there's one problem.
Jon: Our host DMM wouldn't allow it to appear on the site.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

The first panel of this strip was later reused on Lightning Made of Owls #604: The Problem with Webcomic Buffers as part of a two-strip, two-feature lampooning of an incident that had previously happened on Square Root of Minus Garfield.
