Made by: Garfunkel

Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip exaggerates the premise of the original Garfield strip, which was already invoking the Exact Words trope. In the original strip, Garfield took everything in the room except for the box of kitty treats; this strip has the entire last two panels disappearing except Jon, his dialogue, and the box of kitty treats.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon is walking into a room, holding something behind his back.}
Jon: Oh, Garfield...
{Jon enters the room, where Garfield is sitting in a recliner in front of the TV, surrounded by numerous potted plants, a hanging plant, a couple of framed pictures, a coffee table, a lamp, and an umbrella stand. It is revealed that Jon is holding a box of kitty treats.}
Jon: Garfield, I'm going to teach you self-control.
Jon: This is a box of kitty treats.
Jon: Do not take the kitty treats.
Jon: I'm leaving the room now. You are not to take the kitty treats.
Jon: Okay, I'm coming back in now! The kitty treats had better be there!
{Jon looks into the room... and sees that everything is gone, everything. Garfield, the furniture, the walls, the background scenery, leaving just an empty white space. Everything... except the kitty treats.}
