This is the idea that I wanted to do ever since I wanted to submit to this site. It's my contribution to the common idea of editing the first Garfield comic in some way.

The basic idea is to replace Jon with Jim Davis, since I read somewhere that Jon was supposed to possess some representation to Mr. Davis, which we can see in Jon's occupation and his birthday. This is the reason I chose the above two strips. Still, I can't help but feel that Garfield represents Mr. Davis more than Jon does. As an example, when Garfield is on a diet, it represents the time Mr. Davis is on a diet.

Those Jim Davis pictures are drawn by me. I decided to do this because it allowed me the freedom for expressions, because for example, finding Mr. Davis being surprised is not likely to be possible, since he is always smiling in pictures. The pictures I referred to are the following:

Happy 69th birthday, Jim Davis!

(If you want to use the first comic without Jon Arbuckle, here's a link.)

Original strips: 1978-06-19, 2008-07-28.
