Explanation[edit | edit source]
As the author explains, their intent was to create a strip that would theoretically be the nadir of Garfield -- and what better way to illustrate it than as a Garfield in 2053 strip?
The author writes[edit | edit source]
Based on the first six comics in this series. After some time of recycling old gags (even some that were already recycled), Paws, Inc. has run out of comics to reuse, and have to admit to themselves, and to the world, that, yes, the quality of Garfield is deteriorating.
Original SRoMG comics: #783, #1494, #1508, #1526, #1627, #1643, #1740.
Original strip: 2013-01-17.
