Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip is based on its authors' experience with a slow-loading Internet image, said image being a Square Root of Minus Garfield strip. The choice of original Garfield strip (a fresh copy of which was used for this strip) may imply 310: Garfield, 2 Seconds Out-of-Sync to potentially be the strip in question, but it is unknown whether that SRoMG strip was the actual one or not.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I would have included all of panel 2, but having Jon's face in view was really funny enough to keep it in.

This strip was actually inspired by lag that happened during a break time at one of the schools I went to; that school's filters are rather bad, so I could go on places like Tumblr, TV Tropes, and of course, SRoMG. One time, when loading the original strip of one edit, the strip had lagged and didn't load beyond the first line of text on the first panel. Thusly, this strip came to be.

Original strip: 1991-01-21.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon is hidden from view due to the line of text he speaks.}
Jon: I've put the cookie jar on top.
{Jon is suddenly visible, at least for a bit.}
{Jim Davis's signature blocks everything else from view}
