2042: Foot
Foot |
Made by: Sloublues |
Explanation[edit | edit source]
In the original, Garfield was quiet during the second panel before angrily declaring that he was jealous of his foot for being asleep. Here, he merely stares off into space, as if nothing had happened. The four-panel version emphasizes the indefinite continuation by showing him still in the same position when night comes.
Perhaps the lack of a punchline is itself the punchline. Or, perhaps, Garfield has finally become so numbed by the boredom of living with Jon, a subject of frequent jokes in the actual comic, that physical discomfort can rouse him only for a moment.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
I have made two versions. You can pick which one you find funnier. Or "funnier." I actually lean toward the three-panel version.
Original strip: 1991-12-30.
