Explanation[edit | edit source]
The framing, re-outlining, and recoloring of Odie's tongue in the second panel, as well as Garfield's remark in the third, are a reference to Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. The edit was inspired by the multiple positions of Odie's tongue, though the Vitruvian Man only displays two positions per limb.
