Explanation[edit | edit source]
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
For many years now, Pat Sajak has hosted the American version of Wheel of Fortune, a game show where contestants basically spin a big wheel and play Hangman. In the bonus round, the final contestant is given the letters RSTLNE (plus three consonants and a vowel of his or her choice) in order to guess the final word or phrase. I have chosen to omit only those letters rather than include only them, for better readability.
I like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! both, but with both being so iconic and running for so long, it's natural to imagine that a rivalry has sprung up between them.
Original strip: 1988-03-11.
