Explanation[edit | edit source]

Mostly well-explained in the author's notes; although this would not have affected the net result, it is unknown if the author either did not count the title panel at all, or counted the title panel as zero for purposes of the progression of the gag.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

With each panel, I am dictionary. in a text, Japan timeWith the seventh panel translated with comTranslater, it is translated text, the back number of times.

(With each panel, I translated the text into Japanese and back one more time using the Dictionary.com translater, so by the seventh panel, the text has been translated and back seven times.) The title is "Garfield plus progressively bad translation" translated into Japanese and back.

Original strip: 1982-12-19.
