Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I suddenly had the urge to make this, since I'm a total 90s kid and still watch VHS tapes. VHS actually has many advantages over DVD. They remember where you left off, and the previews are almost as good as the video itself.

I just wish our Movie Gallery was still around, though, so I wouldn't have to go to thrift stores and eBay so much. Stupid Redbox...

Oh, and by the way, the difference in picture quality between a VHS and a DVD isn't really that noticeable unless you're comparing them side by side.

Original strip: 1984-06-09.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Garfield is sitting in his chair in the living room, and he is watching a videotape}
Garfield: Personally, I've always preferred VHS over DVD.
TV: *BA-DA-DUM-DUM-DUM*
Garfield: Of course, the picture gets all fuzzy if you watch it too frequently and all...
TV: ♪Nicktoons! Only on Nick, Nicktoons!♪
Garfield: But, you just can't beat them catchy little VHS previews. {he seems quite happy, despite the fact that "Jim Davis 6-9" has been written on the side of his chair}

Trivia[edit | edit source]

This strip's transcript was hit with mojibake errors in a later site recoding effort; the original transcript unaffected by mojibake is currently lost to the public due to this.
