2511: "What Year Is It?" Plus Accuracy

Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip essentially takes 2415: What Year Is It?'s flawed attempt at exaggerating the original Garfield strip's key joke and adjusts the name of the month (December 2009 in the original Garfield strip]], #2415 having already adjusted the year to 1978) depicted to one that began on Tuesday in 1978; as the author's notes state, only one month fit the bill, August.
If one were to change the style of calendar to a Monday-first one (instead of the Sunday first one done by the original Garfield strip and this strip), by extension depicting the start of the month on a Wednesday, three months in 1978 would fit the bill: February, March, and November. February and March predate Garfield (its predecessor Jon was wrapping up in those months), but November would fall during Garfield's run.
The later 5775: What year is it? plus repeating calendar would take a similar yet different approach at exaggerating the original Garfield strip's key joke, retaining the usage of December (and the Sunday-first style) but using the earliest possible year during Garfield's run December 1 fell on a Tuesday.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
As Treehugger pointed out on the forum, the calendar pictured actually starts on a Tuesday, which was the case in December 2009. The only month in 1978 that actually began on a Tuesday was August, so...
Original strip: 2014-12-30.
