Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip essentially recreates the original Garfield strip as if it had taken place in Adventure; the game's red dragon character, Rhindle, takes on Garfield's plight, with Pooky replaced by Adventure's bat character, Knubberub. The author's notes also brings up Adventure's famous Easter egg, a credit for the game's programmer.

To further punctuate the strip's Atari 2600-based setup, this strip was published as strip #2600.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

The Atari VCS, later known by its part number, 2600, had quite a few famous games on it, most notably E.T. and the disastrous port of Pac-Man; but it had many good (for the time) games on it as well. In honor of that, I offer a strip using the 2600s unique (for the time) game, "Adventure", the source of the phrase "Easter Egg", as applied to computer software.

Original strip: 1981-02-02.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Rhindle: So what if I'm lost. Big deal. I can handle it.
Rhindle: Dragons are adventurous. Dragons are independent. Dragons are strong...
Rhindle: {Crying out} I WANT MY KNUBBERRUB THE BAT!
