2710: Anything But Johnny Test!

Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip tweaks Garfield's complaint about what's on the television at the Arbuckle farm; in the original, Garfield's complaint was due to there being only three channels on offer, a common way to describe the television landscape in decades past (as in the big three American commercial networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC from a production standpoint, with PBS being often ignored; other countries may have also had relatable setups, such as the British trifecta of BBC One, BBC Two, and ITV), but rare in reality even when the original strip first ran (by which time Fox, UPN, and The WB had become established in America and even many smaller markets having access to at least Fox among them, and even the British landscape saw Channel 4 and Channel 5 having debuted by then). This strip changes Garfield's complaint to the television at the farm showing non-stop Johnny Test reruns, in a clear jab at that particular television program.

Jon's mom: Garfield isn't much for the home life, is he, Jonny?
Jon: I guess not, Mom.
Jon: But he'll learn to cope.
Garfield: {off-screen} AAAGGHH!
Garfield: {understandably freaking out, since this show is really terrible} Only Johnny Test is on?!!
