Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip takes an original Garfield strip represented twice in 2809: Square Root of Multiplied Garfield, then replaces Odie, his girlfriend, and Garfield's reaction to them with a multiplication problem; Garfield reacts to the multiplication problem the same way as in the original Garfield strip, essentially implying him to be scared of that particular operation of mathematics.

The author's notes makes mention of the authors hoping that this strip actually ending up published after #2809, as this strip was designed as a follow-up to that one; there have been a few instances of strips intended to be follow-ups to earlier-submitted strips getting published before the earlier-submitted strips, most notably DanielBT's "Manga Garfield" trilogy seeing what was intended to be the middle installment published after what was intended to be the finale.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

After I made Square Root of Multiplied Garfield (hopefully this gets published after that one) I decided I'd make a strip involving the most common one used in there: the one where Odie has a girlfriend... who we never see. Of course, given it's multiplication, and math jokes are this site's forte (just look at our name!) I couldn't really resist here.

Original strip: 2002-10-03.
