2880: Regrets

Explanation[edit | edit source]
In the original, Garfield's musing was that he was forgetting something, and the denouement was that, last week, he had kicked Odie into next week, i.e. the week he was in when Odie landed on him.
In this edit, we learn that Garfield has mailed Odie off in a fit, only for Odie to fall on him. As it turns out, Odie had made it into the Equestrian parcel system, and not only has the parcel wagon flown back over the Arbuckle household in Indiana -- some of that glare may need to be reserved for Dizzy Twister and Merry May -- but Derpy Hooves (a.k.a. Ditzy Doo, Muffins) and Sunshower Raindrops (often just called Raindrops, especially since "Tanks For the Memories", in which it's revealed that a pony named Sunshower exists; she played straight mare to Clear and Open Skies) have failed to keep Odie from falling, or possibly jumping, out.
The scene mentioned is from "Feeling Pinkie Keen", in which Twilight discovers that Pinkie Pie has a series of involuntary movements that mean various things are about to happen, e.g. a twitching tail means something's about to fall. Twilight set about observing Pinkie, possibly in an attempt to disprove that it happens, only for the evidence to mount up, usually hitting Twilight, as in this scene, where several heavy objects fall on her. This is much like a scene in the Garfield & Friends episode "Monday Misery" in which Garfield goes to an empty field, thinking that nothing can happen to him there. But because it's Monday, a piano falls on him. The major difference -- aside from character -- is that Garfield & Friends makes no attempt to show where these objects came from.

This is based on a scene from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, wherein Derpy and Sunshower have accidentally dumped some of their cargo onto Twilight Sparkle.
Original strip: 1984-07-02.
