Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip changes the original strip's premise from Jon not getting any e-mails to Garfield making a partial ROM hack of a game originally starring Mickey Mouse.

Ironically, an officially-released video game--at least as far as making it into official distribution channels--is a Garfield-themed reskin of a Mickey Mouse game; the game in question is Garfield Labyrinth, a European-exclusive release that reskinned the Japanese game Mickey Mouse IV: Mahō no Labyrinth, itself part of the Crazy Castle series. (North America saw its own reskin of the Japanese game in question themed to The Real Ghostbusters television series; that version also saw ten additional levels not present in the Mickey Mouse or Garfield versions.) The game in all three coats of paint first saw release in their respective territories between July and October 1993. The game in all three coats of paint, however, is also an unauthorized port of the 1991 video game P. P. Hammer and his Pneumatic Weapon, and as a result is unlikely to see re-release in any of its Mickey Mouse, Garfield, or The Real Ghostbusters forms.
