Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

This comic could always use more europop. And smaller reference pools, perhaps.

[Ed: I'd strongly dispute the classification of this song as Europop.]

Original strip: 2016-08-16.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon is glancing at a bored Garfield, both at a windowsill}
Jon:
The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
But there's no room
No space to rent in this town
You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere

{Jon opens his eyes wider}
Jon:
You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace

{Jon smiles}
Jon:
It's a beautiful day
The sky falls and you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

{Jon looks back to his cat}
Jon: Garfield?

{Jon narrows his eyes again}
Jon: You're pathetic.
Garfield: It lacks plot.
