Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

By way of explanation. Yes, the vinyl version does have that as a continuous loop and if played on an automatic record player, you have to take the needle off yourself to make it stop.

Also, there are not enough SRoMG submissions that involve metal. I felt it was time to change that.

Original song: "Prey" by Brutal Truth.

Original strip: 1985-06-30.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Garfield starts getting warmed up by singing "You Suffer" by Napalm Death as Jon drinks what we THINK is coffee}
Garfield: YOUSUFFERBUTWHY?
{And then Garfield starts singing, or appearing to sing, "Prey" by Brutal Truth. Jon is so shocked by what he sees that he spills the fluid from his mug on himself and stares enraptured at his cat}
Garfield: PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
{Suddenly, Garfield stops lip-syncing and glares at the record player, which is stuck on the looping track}
Record Player: PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
{Annoyed, Garfield gives the record player a smack normally reserved for Odie}
SFX: KA-CHUNK
Record Player: PREYYYYYY-
{Unfortunately, somehow the needle has landed right back on the track, and all Garfield can do is silently curse the apparatus as "Prey" continues}
Record Player: PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PREYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
