Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original strip, the final panel shows the fruits of Odie's efforts: Garfield was not pushed the rest of the way through the pet door, but the door the pet door was in was knocked off its hinges, and Odie was knocked out.

In #1949, the final panel was replaced with white text reading "CENSORED" on a black background, as if the result were too much for a newspaper's comic section to show.

This edit replaces the final panel with the comic itself.

The title is a reference to the film Inception, which features the idea of dreams within dreams.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Oddly enough, I got the idea from an anime-themed shirt, and somehow I redirected myself to this SRoMG idea.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Fancy two-panels-wide Garfield title banner. Won't be described here as it's irrelevant to the joke}
{Garfield is stuck in the pet door, facing inwards. We see a shot of him from the waist back, outside the house}
{Cut to inside the house, where Garfield is visible from the waist forwards}
Garfield: Sigh...
{Outside the house again. Odie is standing there}
Garfield: Hey, Odie, I'm stuck. Can you help me out?
{Throughout the next three panels, Odie walks away, then takes a running start back towards Garfield. The next-to-last panel shows Odie charging at Garfield's rear at full speed}
{The strip is repeated in the final panel, and this goes on until the strip is microscopic}
